Mainstreet Board Of Directors:

Pat Wise – President

I have lived in Lovington most of my life since 1960. I remember the vibrant and active Downtown area we all once enjoyed. It is my desire to see it returned as the hub of activity in our City. There is so much potential for revitalization and renewal and expansion of the economic base, if we will all just push forward together. Lovington MainStreet is the catalyst to make this happen, and I am thrilled and honored to be just a small part of that.

Rosie Insilan - Vice President

I decided to be involved in the Lovington Main Street Board, because the preservation of our historic buildings is very important to me. The great ideas that have been presented at the community meetings are very inspiring. I feel that this will be my way of contributing a little bit of my time to my community.

Michael Raburn

Welcome to downtown Lovington! My name is Michael Raburn and Lovington has always been my hometown. I have seen her in times of boom and in times of bust, but the friendliness and spirit of her people have forever remained I share with many talented and energetic people a passion to see our beloved town as vibrant as she has been in days gone by. The MainStreet program shares that passion for downtowns across America. We are extremely grateful to be a part of MainStreet and to utilize its tools and support to make our "Pride of the Plains" the place to be!

Connie Sevier – Secretary/Treasurer

Why I became involved in Lovington MainStreet:
1. Good food, good friends, good times!
2. Seriously, I have a passion for Lovington. In 1972, when I first moved here from Odessa , TX , the MainStreet District was bustling with activity and commerce. I miss that. When first talk began of putting together a steering committee to bring back the MainStreet certification, I was ready to jump on board. My business is located in the district and I want to see it flourish, again. Through the years of serving on the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development boards, it has been an exciting adventure working with Lovington MainStreet. So much has already been accomplished: establishment of a new board, committees, strategic planning with mission and vision statements, development of Lovington’s Master Plan for the Downtown District, acquisition of grant funds to bring about improvements downtown. It is amazing how we have developed relationships on a State level with people who are as enthusiastic about Lovington as we are. But the most rewarding thing has been seeing the community join together in a united effort to make Lovington a better place to live, work and play!

Shelley Palmer

After traveling through other communities in our state, I became aware of the role that New Mexico MainStreet can play in the revitalization of a community. So, I was extremely thrilled when I had the opportunity to join the Lovington MainStreet Board. Although I did not grow up in Lovington, I have made Lovington my home for the past 18 years. I see great potential for renewal. People love Lovington with her rich heritage, historic buildings, and friendly people; and are very passionate about restoring the downtown area to the place of activity and economy of her past. Lovington MainStreet has spent the last year and a half in the planning and groundwork phase. There has been tremendous support from the community, county, and at the state level. There are wonderful resources out there just waiting to be used to enhance and restore our city. Now that a Master Plan is in place, we can look for exciting projects in our future.

I grew up in Lovington and have recently moved back to the area. Lovington is near and dear to my heart and I want to see the downtown area revitalized, making it the center of activity for the community. I have seen so many towns that are deteriorating around their downtown areas and I do not want Lovington to become one of those casualties. We have a beautiful courthouse square, historical buildings, rich heritage and a caring community. These attributes will make Lovington Mainstreet a success in highlighting our existing assets and providing opportunities to create new ones to attract attention for the community and also for those passing through.

I think one of the biggest motivating factors for becoming involved with MainStreet was to see the city I grew up in receive a bit of a facelift, so to speak, and to provide the youth of Lovington more things to do and places to hang out. Instead of sitting around wondering why things never change I figured MainStreet would be a great organization to be a part of, to start seeing and making a difference in the place I live. The main reason I became involved was to get people excited about Lovington again.

Being a part of Lovington MainStreet is an honor that I am proud to be a part of. I believe that this organization has so much to offer our community and I am excited to be there as it blossoms. I became a part of this organization because I feel like it is a way to give back to the community that has given so much to me growing up. It will give me a chance to work with the wonderful people in our community and an opportunity to learn more about myself. I am looking forward to my time as a board member and making Lovington into something spectacular.

Rhonda Phillips

I became a part of Lovington Mainstreet because I believe in Lovington and have adopted this city as my home. Revitalizing out downtown area will help make our city a place that businesses will be proud to be a part of. It has been exciting to see the changes that have taken place because of the efforts of Lovington Mainstreet and I can't wait to see the changes the Master Plan will bring to our city. I look forward to being a part of an organization that is working to make our downtown a place where hometown folk and visitors alike can meet to shop and have fun!

Vanessa Little-Sellers

Lovington has become my home of 28 years, where I raised two sons and I have been an active part of the workforce for all of those years. I am excited for the potential benefits the MainStreet project could bring to our community, and I am so excited to be a part of such a worthwhile organization. My hopes for the MainStreet Revitalization Project are to rejuvenate Lovington, by creating a promotional concept along with the beautification that would perhaps draw tourism, as well as, boost the morale of our citizens. I feel that this project could be a key to the future of our city.
