MainStreet Services Available:
Based in the New Mexico Economic Development Department, New Mexico MainStreet (NMMS) works primarily with selected local non-profit organizations and municipalities to establish and enhance local downtown revitalization efforts. Using the highly successful Main Street Four-Point Approach TM developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, New Mexico MainStreet assistance and services are structured around Main Street's Four Points of Organization, Design, Promotion and Economic Positioning and are delivered by experienced downtown revitaization professionals. Services provided by the NMMS team include consulting, training, advisory, planning, networking and evaluation services designed to build, strengthen and guide local Main Street organizations so that they can address the full range of challenges and opportunities in their downtown districts.
Four-Point Approach:
Organization -
Involves establishing and maintaining a non-profit corporation that works in partnership with the public and private sector to plan and implement a comprehensive downtown revitalization strategy.
Committee Members - Connie Sevier - Chairperson, Vanessa Little-Sellers,Cheryl Gandy, Freddie Baggett and Janette Faris.
Design -
The Design point of MainStreet consists of improving the physical appearance of the downtown district. Committee Members - Missy Belz - Chairperson, Eddie Burkett, Ava Benge, Lisa Spears and Ron Hogue.
Promotion -
Under the Promotion (or Marketing) point, local Main Street programs work to enhance the image of downtown and to attract people to the district to socialize, shop at local businesses and restaurants, and enjoy local history and culture.
Committee Members - Carmen Duncan and Shelley Palmer - Co-chairpersons, Andra Conner, Belinda Hardin, Glenna Jameson, Jeanine Graham, Jessica Tarin and Rosie Insilan.
Economic Positioning -
Involves strengthing and improving the downtown economy.
